This policy explains what personal information Solair Energy collects when you use this website or ask us for a quote, why we collect it, and your rights over it. We only collect what we need to give you a price and install your system, and we never sell your details.
Who we are
This website is run by Solair Energy. We are the controller of your personal information under UK data protection law.
What we collect
- When you ask for a quote: your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the service you are interested in, anything you write in the message box, and the answers you give in our price tools.
- How you found us: the page you first landed on, the website that sent you, and any campaign tags in the link (for example from a Google advert). This is saved with your quote request.
- If you go ahead: your address, details about your home and the system we install, photos taken during the survey and install, and payment records.
- When you call, email or message us: the content of those conversations.
- Analytics, only if you accept: how you use this website, such as the pages you visit, collected by Google Analytics. See our cookie policy.
Why we use it, and our legal reasons
- To reply to your request and give you a price. You have asked us to, so we rely on taking steps before entering a contract with you.
- To survey, install and look after your system, including warranties and aftercare. This is needed to carry out our contract with you.
- To meet legal and certification duties, such as keeping tax records, registering installs with certification schemes and notifying your electricity network operator about solar and battery systems. This is a legal obligation.
- To keep records of enquiries and improve our service, such as seeing which pages lead to quote requests. This is in our legitimate interests, and we keep it to what you would expect.
- To understand how the website is used through Google Analytics. We only do this if you click Accept, and you can change your mind at any time.
We do not send marketing emails or texts unless you have asked us to, and you can stop them at any time.
Who we share it with
We only share your information when we need to, and never sell it. The people we may share it with are:
- our website host (Hostinger) and our email and phone providers, who store information for us;
- Google, for website analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies;
- if you go ahead: certification bodies such as MCS, your electricity network operator, equipment manufacturers and warranty providers, and any finance provider you choose to use;
- our accountants, insurers and professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it.
Some of these providers, such as Google, may process information outside the UK. When they do, they use safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Quote requests that do not go ahead: up to two years after we last spoke, so we can answer questions about a quote, then deleted.
- Customers: for six years after your install, or longer while a product warranty or certification record needs it, to meet tax, warranty and certification rules.
- Analytics data: kept by Google Analytics for up to 14 months.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to limit or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a format you can take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Some rights depend on the reason we hold the information, and we will explain if one does not apply.
